TheRestaurantGuide

I find I am travelling a great deal. I am always on the look out for good restaurants. It has become a hobby of mine; wherever I am, I try to find a good restaurant. More elusive is the search for a good venue for live blues, but the search continues.

San Francisco Treats
The unofficial Bryn Mawr reunion of 2005 was a food extravaganza! Thank you, Sarah, for making it all possible. I thought I'd try to document our adventures for future reference.

So - before we all got together, clare went to:
Zuni Cafe
Ame - must have the mushroom custard. They made a tasting dinner for me that was outrageous, and a heck of a bargain at $55!

First night - the Thai place where you just stand at the door and they let you in. I had food I've never had before. He just kept bringing it! Sooooo good. Sarah, do you want to share the name, or shall that be our little secret?

Then Dim Sum for breakfast. Hold out for the steamed goodies. My first real dim sum experience - how fun! And they were great as leftovers.

Was the Girl and the Fig next? The wine tour was fantastic. My Benziger wine tastes just as good now that I have it at home (sometimes I can get carried away on site, but this is for-real good wine).

And then Tarte Tatin, non? Loved it. Leanne, how was your risotto? It looked divine. It reminded me of a risotto I once had at Higgins in Portland that had fiddle head ferns in it. And our cool waitress bagged up some of that exceptional bread for each of us. Even though I had to spend the night in Denver on the way home, it was still good once I got back.

What else, ladies?

de blaw an de waal: Amsterdam.
OK, I like foie gras. Alot. I get it many different places, but I've never had anything like the slab I had at this little tiny restuarant right in the Red Light District.
The entire dinner was, truly, spectacular. Highly Recommend.
